Online desk : National Sports Day was celebrated with great joy and pride across the Cachar district on the occasion of Major Dhayanchand’s birthday, who is popularly known as the ‘wizard of hockey’ or ‘the hockey magician’. The District Sports Association (DSA) of Silchar organised a cultural and sports program on the auspicious occasion which begun with the offerings of respect and flowers to Major Dhayanchand’s potrait. Later in the evening, a hockey match was organised for boys and girls to uplift the spirit of the day , which was followed by a panel discussion on the National Sports Day. The Lion’s Club of Silchar took upon the opportunity to falicitate the sports journalists of our town and appreciate their contributions to the field. The Barak Upotyoka Krira Sangvadik Sanstha arranged a carrom match for the journalists, which was very enthusiastically played and enjoyed by them. The United Club, Krira Bharati also celebrated the day avidly with great joy and pleasure.
