In two incidents happened in the city , the robbers took away Rs 6 lakh in cash and several gold ornaments.The incident happened in busy area of hailakandi road and sonai road. Bagpur resident Nazrul Islam Barbhuiya and his companion Nuruzzaman Lashkar and one person Biswajit Karmakar resident of Hailakandi Road Madanmohan Park in the city were victims of the robbers. Nazrul Islam and Nuruzzaman were the first victims. The incident took place around 1.30 pm near Peskar Jangal on Sonai Road. Nazrul Islam said that they had taken a gold loan from ICICI Bank branch on Sonai Road.On this day, he settled the loan money and took back the gold ornaments. Put the gold ornaments in the bag and then go to the New Silchar branch of State Bank of India. After withdrawing three lakh rupees from that bank, he kept it in the same bag and left on a bike
Via Sonai Road. After reaching Peshkar Jangal, suddenly a bike came speeding from behind. There were two riders on that bike. A rider of the overtaking bike took the bag of money and gold in their hands Snatched while moving.
About two hours after this incident, around 3:00 p.m., Biswajit Karmkar’s bag of money was similarly snatched in front of Madan Mohan Park on Hailakandi Road. Biswajit karmakar said that he was going home on a scooty after withdrawing three lakh rupees from HDFC Bank’s Hospital Road branch. When he reached Madanmohan Park and was about to enter, the bike-borne miscreants snatched his money bag from behind. While snatching the bag, he also fell down with the scooty and was injured.
A police report has been filed on both the incidents. Police have already started investigation but there is no news of arrest. Meanwhile, the bike-riding thugs have become active again in the city, creating panic among the people.
